Grammy & Papa's New Neighbor

My mom took this amazing photo this morning of the bear that came to visit their bird feeders! Mom and Dad watched him take down the suet feeder and then munch on regular old bird seed (I imagine that's pretty dry!). He's standing on the stairs that lead down towards their house from the woods, through their rock garden. You can get an idea of his size by looking at the hostas - and that azalea he's standing near has got to be 6 feet tall.
I can't imagine what a cool thing this was to see so up-close! The only bummer is that they're going to have to stop feeding the birds, and they were turning out in record numbers and varieties this year...

Beautiful Babies

My mom found some photos of my brother and I in my grandmother's things this weekend, and thought it would be neat to compare them...who looks like who?
We have:
Me on my birth day
Greg on his birth day
Dave 3-4 months (there was an Easter Lily in the original photo - so I'm guessing it was Easter time!)
Sydney Just born
Evan just born

Evan Thomas Cushman - 4 weeks old today!
Can't believe Evan's been here for four weeks today! He's doing so well - already out of the "newborn" size clothes, and flailing his head and body all around! Can't leave him on the bed or the couch, that's for sure...in the last few days he's started to find his "voice" - making sounds that are more deliberate than the usual baby grunts. Too cute.
Mothers Day 2008

My first Mother's Day with TWO kids!
Syd started the day off by bringing me breakfast in bed (a bagel with cream cheese and orange juice), then proceeded to dress herself in some new spring clothes she had in her closet - without being asked! She gave me two beautiful cards she made in school (will post photos later).
Since my mom and dad were in New Hampshire with my brother this weekend, and we celebrated w/Dave's Mom last night, we had the whole day open. We decided to go up to R&B Sports World in Winsted for the afternoon. Syd and I played mini golf while Daddy carried Evan around (tried to get him to use the baby carrier, but no use!), and then Daddy took Syd on a go-cart ride. Syd found a robin's egg shell and carried it around with her the whole time - by the time we left it was in a million tiny pieces, but she insisted it was still perfect!
Surprisingly, Syd ASKED to go to dinner. This is a big deal for her, who throws a fit any time we discuss anything but McDonalds. We went to Applebees, and I got the salad I've been missing for the last nine months (the blue cheese in it was a no-no while I was pregnant).
