Andrea's Baby Shower

Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Hyde

Can this really be the same dog?  Just had to share these photos of Lucy....the top is of her when she's relaxing with me (which she does ALOT lately) - the second photo is of her typical reaction to Dave's attentions.  She's a real character...

Trip to Cape Cod

Last weekend Sydney and I hopped in the car with my Mom to go to my cousin's baby shower in Marion, MA (on Cape Cod).  We were really looking forward to a girls' weekend away before the baby comes!

The shower was beautiful - it was at a Yacht Club right on the water, and the weather was gorgeous!  Sydney and her cousin Tori were super well behaved and kept themselves busy the whole time writing notes and playing tic tac toe.  Syd was psyched to get to use the hotel pool twice while we were there - that was probably the highlight for her!

There were 6 pregnant women at the shower!  I had the second closest due date, followed by my cousin Andrea....my cousin Daniel's wife (he's Andrea's brother) is also expecting this summer!  Lots of new babies in the family this year...

Time to decorate for Easter

Last summer I bought these adorable papier-mache Easter tchotchkes at Mostly Lavender, right down the street.  We've got the "Easter Tree" going in the kitchen and our treat tower in the dining room.  We're ready for ya, Easter Bunny!

Amaryllis

Every year I go to White Flower Farm's bulb sale at the end of January and pick out a bunch of amaryllis bulbs.  This one is pretty tame and traditional (last year I had some funky, rippley, narrow-petaled green flowers!), but the size and quantity of the buds is impressive.  I have another bulb that's only gotten about 4 inches tall, and it was potted at the same time!  We'll see if that one ends up being the exotic one.  I sent one in to Syd's class so they could watch it grow, and Syd reports that it's VERY tall and is blooming!

The "Barn Door" tooth finally gives up!

Syd referred her loose top front tooth as her "barn door" tooth -- it seemed to wiggle left and right and just sort of hang here (gee, like a barn door!) for at least 3 weeks.  The poor kid had been wiggling it ONLY during the school day, in hopes that she'd get to go to the nurse and get one of the coveted "Tooth Treasure Chests" - but she ended up losing it in the bus line and wound up bringing it home in a baggie!!  There will be plenty more opportunities to lose teeth at school, I'm sure.

The 60-plus Days of Christmas

Forget the Twelve Days of Christmas, we celebrated the Sixty-Some-Odd-Days of Christmas here at our house!  Around New Years Day I started asking Syd if she was ready to part with this year's gingerbread house, and the answer has been "No!" for weeks.  Last week I slyly moved the house from the center of the dining room table, to the kitchen counter, and then to the trash can undetected.  I purchased an "Easter Bunny Hutch" kit made by Wilton, containing the pre-baked cookie house parts, and have promised to do it with her once she finishes her Learning Fair project.

This was our third annual gingerbread house, and our largest to date!  Not sure how many more years I'm going to have the patience to make it from scratch...no one here even LIKES gingerbread cookies, so it's sort of an exercise in vanity. But it's nice to see that it has become something that Syd expects to do at Christmas - our own little tradition!

Sydney's First Art Show!

Sydney's art class at Phoebe's Easel had their Valentine's Day-themed art work on display at Starbucks in Avon the week of V-Day! They made very cool mixed media heart-themed collages.  Nice work!  A smile would have been nice!  We celebrated with dinner at Bertucci's afterwards...
